Bunbuku Chagama (分福茶釜 or 文福茶釜), literally “Bunbuku tea-kettle” is a Japanese folktale or fairy tale about a raccoon dog, or tanuki, that uses its shapeshifting powers to reward its rescuer for his kindness.
民俗学からよく知られているタヌキが化けた茶釜の昔話「分福茶釜」ですが、その後は群馬県館林市の茂林寺に所蔵され、この寺の縁起は、狸の化けた釜とはせず、古狸（貉）の老僧守鶴愛用の「福を分ける」分福茶釜であるとする。千人の僧が集まる法会で茶をたてたが、一昼夜汲み続けても釜の湯はなくならなかったと記される。

We use this story and created it became a sake cups and bot set. Using Makie techniques with the five festivals (January 7、March 3、May 5、July 7 and September 9) designs of Shibata Zeshin on each sake cups. Imitated iron skin with Kawari-techniques. One small dice could help to choose which sake cup to use, it is a kind of game.
この昔話をテーマに福を分けるおめでたい酒器セットを制作した作品となります。
鉄錆塗などの変わり塗りを駆使して茶釜に見えるように制作、内部の盃は柴田是真デザインの五節供紋様、蒔絵技法を変えて盃に描く、サイコロ一つ付属していますが、これは盃を選ぶゲームに用いる為作りました。

The Kamaring(Kama-kan) for lifting the iron pot is also made of wood and lacquered.
It is possible to take it off, we tried to reproduce it realistically.
鉄釜を持ち上げる為の釜鐶（かまかん）も木地で作り漆塗りしたものとなります。
取り外しも可能にしてるので、リアルに再現してみました。
And when you turn the body of the kettle upside down, it transformed into a container that can hold sake also pours sake into the cups.
Inside, use Makie techniques created a raccoon transformed into a human being and sleeping in the room.
そして、鉄釜の本体をひっくり返すとお酒を盃へ注ぐ片口に大変身。
片口の中にはタヌキが人間に化けた絵を蒔絵で表現しました。

This artwork will be exhibited at the Suntory Museum of Art reopening the commemorative exhibition from May 13 to July, 5, 2020. If you have time, please come and visit it.
